We also made it clear that we were not viewing P3D as a platform that normal entertainment license FSX simmers should go out and "switch" to.
#PMDG 777 WORKING IN P3D UPDATE#
This was never going to be released with any kind of free update or huge discount - we made that clear well over a year ago when we started posting updates about P3D. If you or anyone else doesn't like the price of the P3D, then that's your right, but please don't try to convince people that the reasons for it are what you want them to be rather than what they really are. Working out the stuff that is in the P3D license was not free to us (not even close to it) and it had to be done. evil thing, but that's not the actual situation here. I know you all want to view this as some black and white good vs. There's a different set of support concerns for us, the licensing from Boeing to sell the product is different, and a bunch of other things. "The FSX version did not "fund the P3D version" any more than claiming that the NGX funded the 777 and therefore you should get the 777 at a discount. If you don't want to visit Avsim here is the quote, Here is what a Support member had to say about someone complaining about the cost.
If you want the 777 at a discount at all, buy it within the month. No one is forcing you to buy this product. If you really enjoyed the product on FSX which is basically dead (until we see where Dove tail is taking it), then P3D is the best choice for people wanting to stick with an FSX based simulator.
#PMDG 777 WORKING IN P3D SOFTWARE#
Its almost the price of a Majestic Software Q400, or an ORBX scenery pack. $45 difference is a good amount of change in the Flight sim community for a decent product. I was honestly surprised they offered a discount at all. Since they are a for profit company, they have to set the prices up to cover the costs that went into the product, and still make some money. I wouldn't be surprised if they did spend money on that, because their products are very very well made. They make it sound like they spend a lot of money on licensing to Boeing and other companies/developers who provide essential information to build a 100% accurate airliner jet. (I have screenshots) It is all really disingenuous of them, which led to my anger. My issue is that charging those who have already purchased for FSX the same as those who have not is an unfair policy, though it is entirely their right to do that.įan reaction has been overwhelmingly negative to their policy, but they have been aggressively deleting any negative content about them from Avsim and Facebook. PMDG have most certainly incurred additional costs in bringing the T7 to P3D and they deserve to be compensated for that. I'm happy to have a discussion on the math of that with anyone who wants. I did not put one in the offending comment, and I should have.įurther, I have at no point said PMDG should not charge money, I have said that they are not charging what I consider to be a reasonable amount. At no point did I say I could not come up with a reason, and I provided my reasoning in a follow-up content. I am responding because I believe your post mischaracterizes this conversation, particularly given that it ignores the fact I acknowledged the error, and followed up with my reasoning with disagreeing with the poster. So don't take this as me defending calling someone a fanboy. Descending towards Salzsburg by /u/Santi871.
